Challenge:

PS260, a team of media producers, had to move its server room to a temporary location in a landmark high-rise in Manhattan. Facing space constraints with a limited budget, they needed a permanent solution – not a temporary fix.

Temporary Office Space Limitation:
Customer was challenged with no space to put a condenser unit for a mini split air conditioner in their 8th floor temporary office space. EdgeCool and a portable air conditioner were the only viable cooling solution that could cool down the server room. However, the small footprint of the room would not allow using a portable air conditioner to effectively cool down two IT server racks. EdgeCool’s condenser unit easily ducted the exhaust air to an exhaust shaft within the high-rise building.

Portability:
EdgeCool’s ability to move from the 8th floor to their final location on the 22nd floor in a proposed 6 – 9 months timeframe was a significant benefit to PS260. The cost efficiency of a portable solution like EdgeCool to cool down their temporary server room, and then move it to their final location, was a key factor in the decision-making process. The alternative would have been to rent/purchase a portable air conditioner for the temporary office space, and then purchase a mini split air conditioner for their 22nd floor server room, resulting in a much higher investment cost.
